'Remembrance Day' By Jack Antaya

Every year on eleven eleven

We thank the soldiers residing in heaven

They gave their lives for what was right

And perished in a horrible fight

And after all is said and done

One hour each year, we pause our fun

In order to respect, honour, and love

Those brave souls who watch from above

The freedoms we gained so long ago

Are lost in society’s to and fro

One hundred years since Flanders Field

And still the sword of war we wield

Let us take one day to pause,

silent and proud, to ponder the cause

Now wear a poppy on your chest

So those above may finally rest
