Mental health is a big issue in today's society, and with not enough people understanding how big of a deal it is and can be. Some people feel like they have nobody to turn to for help, or are scared to ask for it. With that in mind, I am not a professional, but here are some tips that could help.
There are many websites that you can use confidentially, such as 7cupsoftea.com, or the Kids Help Phone website kidshelpphone.ca, or call their number at 1800-668-6868 to speak privately with a professional. You can visit the school Social Worker for further tips or to get connected to professionals in the community.
2. Other methods that can help you feel safe or calm down is calming music by bands like Sleeping at Last or Kodaline. Having a safe space in your mind or a physical space you feel safe in is always a good idea. Thinking of things that bring you peace or happiness sometimes helps. Music is a big factor that can help many people calm down or enter a calmer state of mind. 3. Throughout all this, taking care of your body is key. Drinking plenty of water and eating healthy foods, while doing a little bit of exercise (such as going for walks or light jogs) can make you feel better, and getting enough sleep at night will also help. These things can help boost your mood, and make you feel better overall. Sometimes taking baths or taking a day off to take care of yourself can be helpful to relax and clear your mind. 4. Journal writing is a way to release your emotions in a safe space, to get them out of your head and somewhere else. Trying to write even once a week can help. You can choose to keep these writings, or you can throw them away once you're done. This may seem like something small, but it can help a lot. Overall, and most importantly, is to realize that it is okay and important to ask for help when you need it. Any problem, no matter how big or small, it worthy of help. It does not make you weak to ask for help, in fact, it makes you quite brave. Whether it be in person, online, or on the phone, talking with someone almost always helps.
